I have one weekend left of demonstrations at the Denver Art Museum. I couldn’t have predicted what it might be like – I thought how do I do a fun demonstration, what are people really interested in, can I pull it off? Well, it turns out that really what people are interested in is what it takes to be a fashion designer…That’s the main question I’ve found – not how do you sew this on, how do you drape, etc. It’s what does it take to be a fashion designer! Fascinating. I could give you a quick answer but I actually have to finish something on deadline so I will answer THAT question later.
Instead I will talk a little about the people I’ve met at DAM – they’ve been interesting. It’s mostly been women and girls – mothers and daughters and I’ve learned what a gift it is to know a craft in one’s life – whether it be crocheting, sewing, cooking…and even playing a music instrument. And to learn it from someone in your family is even more special. That is true wealth.

I also wanted to share a few photos of a young girl named Sabrina who was visiting from Germany. She wants to be a fashion designer specializing in menswear and happened into the designer studio. She talked about her love for Japanese fashion, which we share. Here are some photos I took of her last week.
